Alpinism

Biokovo is second-highest mountain in Croatia and is a nature park. Its highest peak is Sveti Jure (Saint George), at 1762 meters. The 196 square kilometers of its area is protected as a nature park. When the weather is very clear, from the top of Biokovo it is possible to see Monte Gargano in Italy, which is 252 km away.

If you want to enter the very being of Biokovo, the legendary ice cellars or admire the rich decoration of its caves, conquer its tops, enjoy the unforgettable views, spectacular interchange of day and night, or smell the flower of one among 2274 species of plants, then choose mountain tours!

But do not try to hike without proper shoes and plenty of water!

The most important feature of these mountains is that the highest mountain regions here do not have the form of a ridge but of a high plateau (up to about 1700 metres), with a very complicated relief, with many gorges and peaks, caverns and spurs. The edges of the plateaux often finish in huge vertical cliffs.

Paragliding

Mountain Biokovo with its many platos is ideal for paragliding start. And as you fly over the city the scenary is just breathtaking.

Cycling

Find the right bike route for you through Makarska, where we’ve got 251 cycle routes to explore. The routes you most commonly find here are of the hilly or uphill type. Most people get on their bikes to ride here in the months of July and September.

The CRO Race is a men's cycling stage race that takes place in Croatia. It is part of the UCI Europe Tour and is rated by the UCI as a 2.1 event, the second tier of professional stage races, and in one of its cyclists stages pass trough Makarska.

Tennis

Tennis center Makarska has 9 outdoor tennis courts and two indoor tennis courts. Tennis is the ideal sport for your leisure in Makarska and many guests play tennis here in Makarska.

In June 2022. Makarska hosted its first WTA tournament.

History of the Croatian tennis is very long with great results and the great names teeming.
